My flight to Costa Rica was the first January from New York, what a good opportunity to take eve of the year 2011 in the Big Apple. My good friend Alban aka « Ceasar Young » lives in Harlem with his mother who’s a teacher and photographer (cf art. Florence Leyret-Jeune). Few days before on the phone, setting the final details of my visit, he promised to do my brief stay a great time. Alban makes movies, we met in France around a film shoot… Today he keeps filming with his new friends in Harlem, with whom we are supposed to have a nice evening to celebrate the new year.

Vous voulez du bonheur, allez donc profiter d’une petite ballade dans Harlem en plein hiver, la veille du jour de l’an… Ce légendaire quartier de New York, nommé de Ghetto autrefois mais qui évolue aujourd’hui en un endroit très dynamique. Certain considère encore Harlem comme un lieu mal fréquenté. Vous verrez le contraire si vous décidez de poser votre guide du routard et autre Lonely Planet afin de profiter pleinement de la vague de bonne humeur qui se propage dans les rues. Un mélange de culture entre le sud de la France, l’endroit ou elle vit aujourd’hui, Harlem New York, et ses plus beaux voyages, l’Amérique latine… Avec un peu de malice et du talent, elle a réussi dans son parcours a aller chercher des expressions vraiment intime chez des gens de différentes cultures.

A culture mix between south of France, the place where she’s living, Harlem New York, and her most beautiful travels, Latina America… Being a bit smart and with talent, she managed her way to find very inner expression in people of different cultures.

Elle a à son actif quelques livres assez impressionnants de portraits et d’ambiance; pendant que je les feuilletais, elle me racontais l’histoire de chaque photo, et quel voyage! Je connais Florence car c’est la mère d’un très bon ami à moi, elle m’a accueilli chez elle lors de mon transit pour le Costa Rica.  J’ai eu la chance de passer sous son objectif dans son salon ou elle fait la plupart de ses portraits. Je parle de Flo aujourd’hui car depuis que je l’ai rencontré, je réfléchis différemment quand je prend une photo.

She has several books to his credit quite impressive of portraits and ambiance; during I flipped it, she was telling me the story of each picture, what a trip! I know Florence cause she’s the mother of a very good friend of mine, she greeted me on her apartment ​​during my transit to Costa Rica. I was lucky enough to pass under her lens in his living room where she does most of her portraits. I speak today about Flo because since I met her, I think differently when I take a picture.

Waiting for the recording of his next album which will break some heart, Ed also teaches courses in interpretation, all around Canada. He needed couple of portraits to add on his portfolio, a good occasion to make the « studio room » work and to have an other good photography time.
